Crazy Canines

This is a familiar weekend morning at our house. The weenies are just basking in the sun and chilling out. The blinds make it look like Chloe's ribs are showing, but we promise, it's the blinds casting a shadow on her side. lol The vertical blinds below are another favorite spot of Chloe's in the afternoon. She seems to like having the blinds on her and will weave back and forth between them for a few minutes for fun. She is quite the unique girl.

Cody and Chloe just relaxing. He still really likes her and she loves to be around him. Sometimes a little too much, as you can see in the picture where she is giving him a hug "helping" him prevent cavities. He chills out on the bathroom tile to stay away from those 2 sometimes.

Holy Zucchini!!

This zucchini came out of our garden and is almost as long as Chloe! It was crazy, but should make more than one loaf of zucchini bread. haha I don't use fertilizer or Miracle Grow or anything! Also pictured is a tray of tomatoes and peppers from the garden. We have made 3 batches of tomato sauce already! It should be great for our soups and spaghetti this winter. I'm loving my new food mill and want to try making homemade applesauce this fall.

Yes! Painting Again!

In preparation for the Dillons' July visit, we begin decommissioning the "Mickey Mouse" room to turn it into something a little more sophisticated. We gave the old furniture to a friend and found an awesome shade of olive green to paint the room. Garden Ridge is an excellent place for accessories, as is PartyLite! Dillon loves the new spare room, especially the 3-in-1 Symmetry Reed Diffuser with the manly Tamboti Safari scent. We just need to have an electric outlet moved behind the tv so that the wires aren't visible and then the room should be done! And we loved the room color so much, that 2 days later, we painted the spare bathroom the same color to match! It is amazing the difference a coat of paint makes.

Domestications

From JUNE - I asked my mom to help me stitch a hem in some curtains that I'd cut to fit on the front and back windows. We discovered that my sewing machine, which hasn't been out of the box in YEARS, had a broken button, which caused it to only sew backwards . SO...ever the resourceful gals, we decided that we could turn the machine around backwards in order to get it to sew correctly. Then I just had to run the end of the fabric through a second time to do the lock stitch. Here are some pictures of this fun project.

Holiday Weekend Wrap-Up

We had an awesome weekend, filled with lots to do! We went to Home Depot on Saturday and picked up a couple ferns to hang on the front porch. We had to get the right hooks first, but once those were mounted, we were ready to go. We think it really adds to the other landscaping in the front. We also planted the large grass and a Juniper bush in the area we rocked in the backyard at the end of last year's season and added some rock to the side of the house.

We did a few projects in the house on Monday, due to the rain. A clear spot in the afternoon allowed us to do some strawberry picking, as shown in the next post below.

Strawberries Everywhere!!!

We went strawberry picking today with my mom, sister, her husband and the kids. It was a lot of fun and Dillon and I picked almost 14 pounds in about 30 minutes! This was Dillon's first time in the strawberry patch, but I think he had fun. The season for picking just started May 20 and DeMange Farms outside of Saint Jacob has them for $1/lb you-pick, which is the cheapest we've found. I already couldn't help myself and made a fruit crisp, fresh out of the oven. YUMMY!

Chloe vs. Madden

Steve Madden, that is! I accidentally left my favorite brown sandals downstairs on the floor. Chloe doesn't usually get into much, but I guess she really liked them because she sunk her teeth into them! I've had them at least three or four summers now, so it's probably time to get a new pair anyway.
